Originally, this was only going to be a video projection piece, however, it became clear that something else was needed. It wasn't only the above ground route that was important, but the physical and structural component of the subway car itself. I came up with the idea for a sculptural space, so that as the video played, one could also feel the space of the subway car. It was important for both spaces to be part of the over-all experience. The below ground space (and sound) of the subway car and the above ground journey represented with the video.

The sculptural structure was then designed and fabricated by Hydemade, a metal and wood fabrication and design company. Hydemade is owned and operated by Quill and Barely Hyde, also my brothers. The structure is modular, and can be assembled and taken apart with no damage to the over all sculpture.
