It occurred to me that I was creating a public space, or recreating a public space. I wanted the viewers to use the space as their own and thus invited viewers to participate. Graffiti, tagging and hanging out for as long as one needed was encouraged. As the exhibition went on, the train became more and more marked and the garbage and graffiti layered on. I'm sure it was an exaggerated effort from participants, but I hoped that the act of leaving things behind, whether it be trash or a drawing was freeing and inclusive experience for the viewer.
